Okay, so I am always asked exactly what products I use in my daily routine. Am I really using my own? What other brands do I trust, along with my all-natural one? Here’s the scoop….
My typical day starts with a shower.
I first wash my face with Nature Nate’s raw honey. Yep, that’s what I said. Honey! I’ll be writing a blog on the benefits of honey soon. But just know that it is anti-bacterial, moisturizing, soothing, and full of antioxidants. (so great for your complexion and glow!)
Then I wash my hair with Monat’s Intense Repair Shampoo. And since it needs to sit a while, to do its thing (cleanse and boost hair growth), I wash my face again. This time, with doTERRA‘s Verage Cleanser. After my face is silky smooth, I rinse the shampoo and face wash.
To save some time, I run Monat’s Smoothing Deep Conditioner through all of my hair but the roots (so it can condition and tame my many flyaways) and I lather up more Intense Repair Shampoo for my scalp at the same time. Again, Monat needs to sit and do its thing….
So I move on to Olay’s Ultra Moisture Body Wash. This is the wash that I’ve used and trusted for at least the last decade. But, I have to say that I’ve been using a handmade body wash for the last two weeks. A mix of olive oil, castile soap, raw honey, and essential oils (this first batch I’m trying is using grapefruit eo). I’ll be testing this out for a while… and deciding if I want to provide this as a new product line for us.
With the body wash, I’m just using a store-bought shower puff. But I’ll admit something here too- I’m in the process of trying to grow luffa sponges! No joke! I started them from seeds in early May, and they’re now about 5″ tall seedlings. Pretty soon, we should have large vines running up our tipi trellis. And I could be drying out the gourds (to make luffa sponges) in the next few months.
Then everything gets rinsed out/off.
When I’m out of the shower, I spread our healing salve on all my dry skin and move onto doTERRA’s verage toner, hydrating serum, and moisturizer for my face. My skin stays moisturized and happy! And then I spray the Monat Intense Repair Treatment onto my scalp.
Then I have to decide what to do with my hair. I either immediately pull it into a side bun or side braid… or immediately spray with my beach waves spritz (so that I can wear it down with curls). I might let it dry out, so that I can do a top-knot. I might let it dry out so that I can style and wear it down. And a side note- If I’ve decided I don’t need to wash my hair in the shower, I just might need to use a little dry shampoo. {Both my beach waves spritz and dry shampoo are easy handmade recipes that I want to share. Check them at the end of the post!}
Next up, make-up. I’ve been using bareMinerals eye shadow and powder for many, many years. (I feel great about their company and ingredients) And for my mascara and lipstick, I’ve trusted CoverGirl. Their Lash Blast mascara is the only one I’ve loved, that never runs. And their Outlast lipstick literally lasts ALL day long! Their color #626 (canyon) has been my signature color for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I’ll change it up with a deep red. But most days, it’s the same beautiful canyon color I’ve always loved.
Deodorant? I’ve been using Dove’s Clinical Protection (deodorant and anti-perspirant) forever. Love their clean scent. And it works!!! But in the interest of wanting to use more natural products, I implemented doTERRA’s deodorant while Texas was cooler. (Since it’s just a deodorant, not anti-perspirant, I really can only use it from November to March).
And I have to touch on sun screen! If I’m going to be out in the sun, I’ll add that to the routine. The brand I trust is ThinkSport. We own the kids SPF 50+, the adult SPF 50+, and the Everyday Face SPF 30+ (which has a skin-tone tint to it, to keep you from getting those hideous white streaks). Works wonderfully. Evan loves the scent (he says it reminds him of Fruity Pebbles). And we get these from The Farm Connection, our favorite one-stop-farm-shop (love that!).
I’ll touch on my smile too. Since it’s one of my favorite things, I trust a Philips Sonicare brush with my doTERRA OnGuard Natural Whitening Toothpaste to keep it healthy and pretty. I know that I’ve mentioned this before in my ig toothpaste posts… The taste takes a while to get used to (since we’re all so used to mint). But now I love the flavor. And the fact that I can drink orange juice after, without cringing? Gold!
{Now, If I choose a bath at the end of the day instead of a morning shower, I always drop in our bath salts or a bath bomb. Luxurious, relaxing, uplifting additions to the bath water!}
And then what’s the one product I put on all day every day? Our lip balm, of course! Silky smooth and repairing, with its own built-in, natural SPF protection!

That’s pretty much all I use. No concealers, blush, contouring products. No eyeliner or lip liner. No hairsprays or extra styling products. Have never dyed my hair, so I don’t need to worry about extra care for color. I don’t even own a blow dryer. So, I’m a pretty low-maintenance kind of girl (if you count all of this ^ as low-maintenance).
My simple make-up… and the many hairstyles of me:
Oh my goodness! That list was exhausting! (even though my routine only takes me an hour or less)

Great routine – thank you for being so thorough! I don’t have a blow dryer either! Low maintenance Island girl! I’m such a bare minerals fan too – although one area we do differ in, I can’t live without my Bodyshop eyeliner! 🙂
People think it’s pretty strange that I don’t own a blowdryer. Guess I’m weird.
And I guess I’m pretty different, that I have never even tried eyeliner! 😉
