It was a glorious day!!! We skipped watching the rodeo this time, in exchange for checking out every single barn and exhibit… and participating in the competitions!
We had never attended the 4-H expo before. Dozens of clubs showed up to hand out information about their groups and provide games, snacks, or take-aways for all the kids that stopped by. I think we spent an hour in this barn, enjoying it all.
We spent forever in the Lego Fest tent. Building, exploring, creating, and playing. Ben even won a couple of prizes in the big game show!
And then the usual. Animals, watching the dairy presentation, history, fun and games, and food. Visited with the fine folks at GoTexan. We all played the Chick-fil-a game (I won a little stuffed cow!). I got Ben to try empanadas for the first time (and he loved them!). We budgeted so that we could squeeze in a maple bacon funnel cake too!!!
Then we attended the food and photography awards presentation. Evan was the only one that decided to enter the food competition. After working so hard on his two recipes, it was disappointing that he only won a participation ribbon and a 3rd place ribbon. But he was thrilled with his winnings! 😉 Then Ben totally rocked the photography competition. He was brought on stage to receive his three 1st place ribbons and two Best of Show ribbons… and get his $50 cash reward!
I was so proud! And had such a great time!
