Deconstructing Again!

So now I’m deconstructing my hand cleansers!
(our germ-fighting, antibacterial, moisturizing, sanitizer sprays)

Ingredients: isopropyl alcohol, aloe vera liquid, vitamin E oil, lemon essential oil, doTERRA’s OnGuard essential oils blend

ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL

For our hand sanitizer, our recipe had to be formulated around 70% alcohol.  That’s probably the only thing you want to have that much isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) in it.  😉  But what else can you do with this ingredient?

I like Medical New Today’s blog post titled “What Uses Does Rubbing Alcohol Have?
1 disinfecting tick bites
2 caring for pierced ears
3 reducing body odor
4 deodorizing shoes
5 creating homemade room deodorizer
6 creating homemade ice packs
7 cleaning and disinfecting hard surfaces
8 disinfecting sponges and cloths
9 cleaning and sanitizing electronic devices
10 cleaning jewelry
11 alleviating nausea after a medical procedure

ALOE VERA LIQUID

Aloe vera is sometimes called the “wonder plant.”  It’s an easy-to-grow succulent that’s been used to treat various health conditions for thousands of years.

I have a small aloe vera plant at home, that’s at least six years old.  And this large collection that I’ve had on the shop’s sidewalk for the last year.  Both from Hill Country African Violets & Nursery.  Both healthy and happy, and easy to care for.

Again, I’m going to use Medical News Today.  Their blog post “What Are the Benefits of Aloe Vera?” helps pinpoint some benefits and uses you just might not know about:
1 it contains healthful plant compounds
2 it has antioxidant and antibacterial properties
3 it accelerates wound healing
4 it reduces dental plaque
5 it helps treat canker sores
6 it reduces constipation
7 it may improve skin and prevent wrinkles
8 it lowers blood sugar levels

And check out these unique (and some beautiful) recipes from Hello Glow’s blog post “15 Edible Aloe Recipes to Nourish Your Skin From the Inside.”
1 aloe and cucumber water
2 aloe vera martini
3 5-ingredient healthy double chocolate cashew aloe ice cream
4 aloe vera, mint, and tequila frozen jelly
5 hydrating kiwi aloe popsicles
6 healing aloe smoothie
7 raspberry aloe water
8 kuvar pak
9 poached aloe yogurt
10 kiwi chia seed cooloer
11 mini quiches
12 dairy-free papaya lassi
13 aloe vera salad
14 watermelon coconut aloe juice
15 aloe vera lemonade slush

Yum!  Will you be trying any?!

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E is an important vitamin required for the proper function of many organs in the body. It is also an antioxidant (it helps to slow down processes that damage cells).  And it’s super moisturizing.  Not only do we use it in our hand cleansers… but in our lip balms too.  For incredibly soft, smooth, silky, moisturized, and kissable lips!  And in our new body butters.  So that light, airy, fluffy cloud you rub on your skin delivers incredible moisture!

LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL

Do you know that lemon is a light, uplifting, and happy essential oil?  But it’s also tough on grime and residue too!

doTERRA has a wonderful blog post, “Lemon Oil Uses and Benefits” that gives you all the lemon eo info you’ll ever need!
1 add lemon to your water
2 give your soap a little extra cleaning power
3 great to add to a scrub, for a healthy-looking glow
4 diffuse, for an uplifting environment
5 cleanse and preserve your furniture
6 add lemon to desserts
7 remove tarnish from silver and metals
8 use in cleaning agents
9 ease seasonal allergies
10 remove stubborn, sticky residue

This blog also links to the beach waves salt spray that I shared recently.  Love that recipe!

And it links to a recipe for lemon and orange granitas, which looks delish!!!

Plus, do you know I’m a huge fan of lemon, and put it in almost every one of my products?  We have lemon in our all-purpose cleaners, body scrubs, bath salts, bath bombs, colognes, room/linen sprays, dish soaps, and bar soaps.  They’re all cleansing, light, and uplifting.

ONGUARD ESSENTIAL OILS BLEND

“As one of doTERRA’s most popular oils, On Guard is a powerful proprietary blend that supports healthy immune function when used internally* and contains cleansing properties.”

We use it in our two products, where we need cleaning and sanitizing power: our all-purpose cleaners and hand sanitizers.

And doTERRA has another great blog post, to help you learn about this blend of oils: “OnGuard Uses and Benefits.”
1 immune and respiratory function support
2 protection from seasonal and environmental threats
3 support the body’s natural antioxidant defense
4 immune-boosting pancakes?!
5 diffuse, for an energizing and uplifting fragrance
6 use to clean household surfaces
7 give your apples a water and OnGuard soak, for a healthy, immune-boosting snack
